This is one of the marble slabs of the pedestrian walk between the port harbour gate and the Celsus library (the only one with carvings on it).

You can distinguish a left foot, a heart, a woman with long hair …. Dating 2,000 years, this must be one of the oldest advertisements in existence in the world. It tells disembarking sailors: If you go straight ahead and turn left, you will find what your heart is looking for. It was directions to the brothels.

I don’t know what the hole with water meant (watering hole — a pub?), nor the cross to the left of it (the church?) ….
