  1. JUDY WILKINS Says:

My husband, who is handicapped, and I want to know the date, time, and location of the Yabusame in October 2009, and if it is possible to purchase 2 reserved seats.

  2. The Yabusame archery competition at Nikko will be held on the 16th of October. As for special arrangements with your husband, this would have to be done in japanese.

May I advise you to make your travel arrangements with a foreign travel agent in Tokyo (most Japanese do not speak english and do not fully understand the needs of foreigners). Without wanting to sound like beating a drum, I would recommend my husband, Michel Haour, who is a travel agent in Tokyo for over 35 years. He is most competent and has wide experience in arranging the domestic and international travels of foreigners. You may contact him at haour@francetravel.co.jp. He speaks english and japanese (as well as french).

For more information about the autumn festival held at Nikko which includes the Yabusame archery competition at the Toshogu shrine, please see: http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/indepth/history/traditionalevents/a57_fes_nikko.html

Also, if you are staying on an extended trip, I would also suggest you see the Tokyo Jidai Matsuri held every 3rd of November. See: http://travellingcam.wordpress.com/category/japan/tokyo-jidai-matsuri/

Wishing you a happy trip to Japan.
